Title: Why People avoid Mixed Breed Dogs
Post by: admin on August 14, 2018, 11:47:30 PM
Mixed breeds are not usually healthier than pure breed. This is because they are a mix of two breeds, and you often don't know which breeds- they might have inherited lots of issues from their ancestral line.

For example, if you have a cross of GSD and a Labrador,  both these breeds have terrible defects in their history. Now, add some Great Dane which has spine issues, another breed that dies early, something with aggression- Each puppy derives its DNA from the parents, grandparents, on and on the line. This is why show dogs are health tested through every possible test you can ever think of before they are bred, so they DON'T pass health related problems down the lines to their puppies.

When you get a mix breed, you are getting a suprise package. You may be getting a great comapnion for 8-15 years with regular vet visits, OR you could be getting a bad companion that dies at age 2 becuase of a displaced hip, cancer, hart issues or seixeure tec- a million different problems brought to the table by one of its ancestors that no one knew about.

Yes, they are excellent, loving, pets. But they are also an unknown health time bomb waiting to go off!!!
